Description: 18th century map of Switzerland with numerous lakes, villages and the high peaks of the Alps. The map is copperplate engraved with hand coloring in outline.
Cartographer: George Louis Le Rouge (1740-1779). Publisher, and topographical engineer for the King Louis XV of France. He specialized in atlases of fortifications and plans.
The 1743 Le Rouge plates were acquired by Crepy, who re-issued them in Paris, often putting his imprint & another date in the cartouche/ title area. Origin: Atlas Nouveau Portatif à l'usage des militaires et du voyageur Isles de la Sonde,issued Paris.
