Description: Colmar Alsace, old antique 16th-century woodcut birds-eye view of the city and surrounding are, with the Gothic Eglise Saint-Martin church in centre of the town. From a French edition of the Cosmography published Henri Petri, Basle.

Author: Sebastian Munster, one of the most important and famous mapmakers of the mid-sixteenth century, published two books of Ptolemy's Geographia.

The Cosmographia by Sebastian Münster was published in 46 editions.
In German between 1544 and 1628, in Latin between 1550 and 1572, in Italian in 1558 - 1575 and in French between 1552 – 1575.
