Interesting small engraved map of Cyprus in the 17th century, surrounded by text in Dutch. Embellished with a sea monster, 2 vessels mile scale and title cartouche.
The map is engraved by Jodocus Hondius printed in Leiden by Isaac Elsevier/ Jan Cloppenburch in Wereld Spiegel, waer in vertoontword de Beschryvinge der Rijken Staten, ende vorstendommen des gantsen Aerdbodems (translated from Les estats, empires et principautez de monde by Pierre Davity ) and was first published by Petrus Bertius in atlas Tabularum Geographicarum Contractarum Libri.
Cartographer: de Clerck 1621. Nicolaes de Clerck (de Klerc) was active as engraver and publisher.
