Finland Sweden Nova Mappa Geographica Sueciae, Seutter 1720

Title: Nova mappa geographica Sueciae ac Gothiae regna ut et Finlandiae ducatum ac
Lapponiam cum provinciis minoribus ob oculos ponens.

Description: Important large antique map of Finland, Sweden, Lapland and Livonia with parts of Norway, Poland and Russia.
At lower right an title cartouche with mile scale, and the coats of arms of the countries surrounded by allegorical figures and putti.

The map is copperplate engraved with hand coloring.

Cartographer: Seutter, Matthaeus, 1678-1756
Matthaeus Seutter, German cartographer and engraver, was a contemporary and rival of Homann.
He was apprenticed to Homann and created his own business in 1707 in Augsburg.
He produced several atlases including the "Tabulae Geographicae", "Atlas Novus", and "Atlas Minor".
His maps are very similar (at least in style) to those of Homann.

Fine original antique copper plate engraving of the Low Countries with hand coloring.
