Original old antique map of battles around Metz on 14.16.and 18 August 1870. Napoleon III and MacMahon formed the new French Army of Châlons, to march on to Metz to rescue Bazaine. Napoleon III personally led the army with Marshal MacMahon in attendance.
Origin: The 6th edition, entitled Meyers Großes Konversations-Lexikon, was published 1905 in Leipzig and Wien by Joseph Meyers Bibliographic Institute Leipzig und Wien.
